A zoning administrator is responsible for overseeing the administration and enforcement of zoning regulations, ensuring compliance with local ordinances, and assisting the public with zoning inquiries.
The zoning administrator shall:
- Evaluate land use applications for completeness and compliance with zoning ordinances, including zoning permits, special use permits, and variance requests.
- Issue permits when all requirements are met and no further review by the planning commission or board of adjustment is necessary.
- Serve as the first point of contact for citizens applying for permits, providing guidance on zoning forms and processes.
- Conduct inspections during the building process to ensure compliance with site plans and zoning regulations, and investigate alleged violations.
- Maintain accurate records of permits issued, prepare reports for planning commissions, and keep zoning maps and documents up to date.
